Following a recent round of funding from Imbiba to accelerate growth, Wireless Social, hospitality Wi-Fi and guest analytics specialists have announced the appointment of key industry figures to the board of directors.
Julian Ross, Wireless Social CEO announced, “We are entering the most exciting chapter in the history of Wireless Social. We have a new Chairman in Clive Consterdine and I am delighted to confirm that Andrew Stones, Emma Causer, Nick Telson, and Sam Bourke are joining our already amazing team. With such a breadth of skills and knowledge gained from working in the sector, their combined experience will help Wireless Social to innovate, grow, and solve even more problems for our customers.”
Joining Wireless Social as Imbiba representative is Andrew Stones. Andrew was previously Managing Director of Be At One, working with the founders and private equity partners to grow the company from 10 to 39 sites. Andrew went on to manage the trade sale of Be At One to Stonegate pub company in 2018. Andrew has a broad range of operational experience having worked for hospitality giants such as Whitbread and JD Wetherspoons.
Andrew commented, “Having always tried to keep up with technological advances as an operator, it is great to be working with such a forward-thinking business as Wireless Social; Julian has built a fantastic team who are very much at the forefront of consumer insight.”
With over twenty years operational hospitality experience from M&B, Café Rouge, EI Group plc and Punch Taverns, Emma Causer joins as Chief Customer Officer. In 2006, she helped Sky TV dominate the hospitality-Wi-Fi market with The Cloud. At BT Sport, she was instrumental in bringing about subscriber growth, surpassing the incumbent market leader. Emma is also co-founder of the award-winning mentoring initiative, Plan B, whose aim is to increase the number of women on hospitality boards.
Emma added, “I love Wireless Social’s passion and enthusiasm. They have taken the market by storm and I’m thrilled to be a part of their future. Creating products like Hedgehog, that create new routes to market for brands, proves that innovation and agility are core to Wireless Social’s DNA. My focus is to ensure that our customers, whether B2B or consumer, are at the heart everything we do.”
Under the new plans, Clive Consterdine, existing Non-Executive Director, will become company Chairman. Clive will ensure that the board remains effective in implementing the company’s direction and strategy. Joining long-standing Non-Executive Director, Ann Elliott, founder of Elliotts Agency, are Sam Bourke, ETM Group Sales and Marketing Director and Nick Telson, co-founder of DesignMyNight.
Sam Bourke, Director of Sales and Marketing at ETM has extensive marketing experience working with leading hospitality and retail brands most recently, Nectar and The Restaurant Group where, as Marketing Director, she spent two years implementing and executing award-winning digital innovation and data strategies. At ETM, Sam is responsible for driving concept innovation and creating and implementing the sales and marketing strategy that drives awareness and secures market position across the 13-strong pub and restaurant group.
Sam said, “I am delighted to work with Wireless Social’s innovative team as they enter this exciting next phase of growth. Their tech products are industry leading and provide operators and brands with the platforms needed to profile audiences, build actionable insights and drive loyalty. I look forward to contributing to the future plans and adding value back to fellow operators.”
Nick Telson co-founded DesignMyNight in 2010. He succeeded in growing DesignMyNight into an 8 million views a month website and over £250m worth of transactional revenue. DesignMyNight was acquired by Access Group in November 2017. Nick was previously recognised as one of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs by The Huffington Post and has won start-up awards from The Guardian and RealBusiness.
Nick noted, “I have followed Wireless Social for a while now and their progress has been incredibly impressive; the smart technology solution, incredible data capture possibilities, and the tenacious team are a winning combination.
